The demo version of Microsoft Project Server 2002 has been launched on project.datafort.ru. Thanks to this initiative Russian companies got an opportunity for free testing of popular project management application in remote access mode for the first time.
There are two modes of using this application — terminal (by means of Microsoft Project 2002 Professional) and via Web-access:
- Web-access makes it possible to submit data on the work progress, determine the rules of e-mail message generating, assign tasks, create reports on group operation, organize document sharing, etc.
- In addition to the features provided by Web-access, terminal mode enables to develop projects and publish them on the server, to establish corporate pool of resources and to work with it, to plan projects by role resources employing, to edit projects on a company scale in check-in/check-out mode, to control access rights of workgroup members, to create and store several versions of the project, to analyze the project portfolio and many other things
The work on launching Microsoft Project Server 2002 demo version was held in the context of DATA FORT and Microsoft joint marketing program "Microsoft products leasing and hosting" announced in October 2002. This program is an opportunity for the customers to optimize costs related to Microsoft software products purchase by applying technological resources of state-of-the-art data processing center DATA FORT.
By deploying or hosting Microsoft Project Server a customer gets remote access to the application (Microsoft Project Web Access), centralized data storage with the help of Microsoft SQL Server, backup and virus protection services, as well as round-the-clock monitoring and technical support by DATA FORT.
Approximate monthly charge for the lease of 10 workstations Microsoft Project Server 2002 (8 Web-access users and 2 users having access via Microsoft Project Professional 2002) with 500 Mb data volume of DBMS Microsoft SQL Server will amount to 1001 USD (VAT and other taxes not included).
